Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland woke up experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the state, producing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.

Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction

Residents reported substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Weather Woes

Simultaneously, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations received 598 requests for assistance across the state, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

• Werribee region - experienced significant weather impact
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - various assistance requests
• Wyndham area - over 175 emergency requests

At one point on Sunday, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were lacking electricity.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both areas.

Health Warning

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.

This caution comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the state.
