Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
